Frequently Asked Questions

For Yeg Members

What can I spend the £500 budget on?

The Personalised Budget can be used to buy many things, providing you can show how the purchase will help to improve your employment prospects. This can include but is not limited to: occupational, accredited or non accredited training courses; work related equipment or tools; personal protective equipment (PPE) or uniforms; CRB checks; certain licences; and travel costs. The funding cannot be used to pay for anything which is already freely available to you.

Can I continue to spend the £500 even if I get a job?

Yes. The £500 budget has been allocated to you and can be used to continue your support even if you have started work.

What if I the things I need cost more than £500?

To ensure as many young people as possible are given a place on the YEG programme, the Personalised Budget is set at a maximum of £500 per person; any more than this and the number of places would have to be reduced. However, if an item you want to purchase costs more than £500 or the amount you have left in your Personalised Budget, speak with your YEG advisor who will be able to tell you about possible options.
